The summer

The FFX summer runs July 3 – August 21, 2026 — seven weeks, one cohort, all of it together. You come for the whole thing: everyone stays together and travels together, start to finish.

First stretch

1. Land & connect

Arrive in Bishkek, meet the cohort — half local, half from abroad. Settle into guest houses, learn the city with people who grew up in it, first conversation clubs.

Middle stretch

2. The rhythm

Language exchange evenings, English-center conversation clubs, shared meals, day trips. This is where strangers become the friends the name promises.

Last stretch

3. The road

Out of the city together — mountains, Issyk-Kul, the places your local friends have been promising you since week one.

A typical Tuesday

Morning is yours — language practice, the bazaar, or sleep. Afternoon: conversation club at a local English center, locals practicing English, foreigners practicing Russian. Evening: someone knows a place for laghman, and dinner runs long in two languages.

Where you sleep

Guest houses and hostels — clean and simple, and the whole cohort stays in them together. No host families, no splitting off. You pay your own share; the group moves as one, in the city and on the road.

Both directions

If you're local: spend your summer break inside an international friend group without leaving the country — and level up your English for free. If you're from abroad: see Central Asia the way no tour can show it to you.

Giving back

The cohort helps where it's welcome — conversation hours at English centers and small community projects along the way. Nothing performative; friends help out where they live.
